Summary

The Calculate Allocation Values utility is used to calculate winter averaging, prior consumption, or service-rate allocation values for a group of utility accounts, preview the results in a grid, and save them to the accounts

Step by Step

1     Open the Calculate Allocation Values window (UB> Utilities> Calculate Allocation Values).

2     Specify the calculation criteria.

• The fields at the top of the screen are used to filter the accounts that will have their allocation values updated and to specify how those updates will be calculated.
  • Use the Services/Service Rate, Cycles, and Class Code fields to select the services, service rates, cycles, and class codes that will be included in the calculation.
• The Action field is used to determine the type of value that will be used as a basis for the calculation. The value selected here will determine the available options in the Calculation Parameter field.
  • Select Percent of Winter Average to base updated calculations on the most recent winter average value for an included account.
    • When Percent of Winter Average is selected, the Calculation Parameter option will be set to Most Effective Winter Average.
    • If the Results Calculated As field is set to Annual, the Most Effective Winter Average value will by multiplied by the value in the Percentage field and that resulting value will be multiplied by 12.
    • If the Results Calculated As field is set to Period, the Most Effective Winter Average value will by multiplied by the value in the Percentage field.
  • Select Percent of Prior Cons to base the updated calculations on the consumption values for each period in the indicated year for an included account.
    • When Percent of Cons is selected, the Calculation Parameter field will be used select the year to pull the consumption data from. Select the Current Year or one of the previous ten years indicated by Current Year - 1, Current Year -2, etc.
  • Select Based on Service Rate to base the updated calculations on the selected service rate decimal value for an included account.
• The Results Stored In field is used to determine where the calculation results will be stored.
  • If Annual is selected in the Results Calculated As field, the Results Stored In field will populate with a number of field options, including multiple Water Allocation Period and Lot Miscellaneous fields.
  • If Period is selected in the Results Calculated As field, the Results Stored In field will populate with only Water Allocation and the calculated value will be stored across all 12 Water Allocation fields.
• Once all the filter criteria have been entered, click the Calculate button to pull in the relevant accounts and calculate the updated water allocation values.
  • The data grid will display one row per matching account, showing the Account Number and, when applicable, Lot, Billing Cycle, and Class Code
  • When Results Calculated As is set to Annual, the grid displays a single Annual Results column. When set to Period, the grid displays Period 1 through Period 12 columns.
• Check the toggle next to each account you would like to update and click the Save button to complete the update process.
