Summary
The Web Announcements Maintenance window is used to create and maintain the web announcements that are displayed on the home pages of the Springbrook Online Applications.
Step by Step
1 Open the Web Announcements Maintenance window.
- The Web Announcements Maintenance window (HR> Maintenance> Web Announcements) will display all of the web announcements created in the application.
- Highlight a web announcement and click the Delete icon to delete the selected web announcement.
- When you highlight a web announcement in the left section of the window the announcement details will display in the Maintenance section on the right side of the window.
- Click the Create icon to create a new web announcement. This will create a new announcement line item and enable the fields in the Maintenance section to the right.
2 Create a new Web Announcement.
- Enter a unique web announcement Code. This is the descriptive name of the announcement and will not appear on the Employee Self Service site.
- The web announcement code can be up to 10 alphanumeric characters long. Once the code has been saved it cannot be edited.
- The Department field is used to associate the announcement with a specific department.
- If an announcement is associated with a specific department, it will only be displayed for those users that are associated with that department.
- Departments are created and maintained on the Department Maintenance window (SS> Maintenance> Department).
- The Begin Date and End Date fields are used to set up a time limit on when the announcement is displayed.
- When the begin date is reached the announcement will be automatically added to the online application home page. When the end date is reached the announcement will be automatically removed from the home page of the online application.
- The Begin Date will default to the current date.
- The Order field is used to determine the order in which the announcements will display.
- The lower numbered announcement will always appear above the higher numbered announcement.
- The order must be between -999 and 999.
- The Title field is used to specify the title of the announcement as it will appear on the page.
- The title will appear as bold text in a different color. This field can be formatted using HTML tags. See below for more information on HTML formatting.
- The title can be up to 128 characters long. This includes any HTML formatting.
- The Content field is used to enter the body of the web announcement.
- Because these web announcements are designed to be used with a wide variety of browsers, any user-defined display customization must be accomplished using HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) tags.
- These tags are most often used in pairs. Only the words, phrases or paragraphs that fall between the opening tag and the closing tag will be affected. For example, in the following sentence, the words "username" and "password" would appear in bold text in the web announcement.
- Here are a few of the most commonly used HTML tags:
- For a more comprehensive list of HTML tags, please refer to one of the many free, online HTML tutorials such as W3Schools.com. Here you can learn how to insert tags used to change font styles, create web site links and insert pictures.
- This field is limited to 2048 characters. This includes any HTML formatting.
- Click the Save icon to save the completed web announcement.
