HR Position Description Heading Maintenance

Summary

The Position Description Heading Maintenance window is used to create and maintain position description headings. Position description headings are attached to positions in order to provide applicants with customized details about the positions through the Applicant Tracking online application. Some examples might include Job Description, Job Duties and Required Qualifications.

Step by Step

 

1     View the position description headings.

  • Open the Position Description Heading Maintenance window (HR> Maintenance> Position Description Heading).
  • The Position Description Heading Maintenance window will display a separate line item for each position description heading that has been set up in the application.
  • Highlight a position description heading and press DELETE or click the Delete icon if you would like to delete the position description heading.
    • You cannot delete a position description heading that is attached to a position.
  • Highlight a position description heading to edit the details to the right.
  • Press INSERT or click the Create icon to create a new position description heading. This will enable the Maintenance section to the right.

 

2     Create or modify a position description heading.

  • Enter a Code for the position description heading.
    • The Code field is used to assign a unique, recognizable code to the position description heading. This code will only be used when attaching the position description heading to a position (HR> Maintenance> Position> Description tab).
    • Once the position description heading is saved, this field cannot be edited. The code field is required and is limited to 10 alphanumeric characters.
  • Enter a Description for the position description heading.
    • The Description field is used to provide an internal description for the position description heading. Like the Code field above, the contents of this field will only be displayed on the Position Maintenance window.
    • The position description heading description can be up to 128 alphanumeric characters long.
  • Enter a Title for the position description heading.
    • The Title field is used to provide a title for a position description heading attached to a position. This title will display at the top of an individual section of the Job Description page of the Applicant Tracking online application. For example, standard position description heading titles might include Job Description, Job Duties and Required Qualifications.
    • The title field is required and is limited to 64 alphanumeric characters.
  • Specify a Default Order for the position description heading.
    • The Default Order will determine the order in which multiple position description headings are displayed on the Job Description page of the Applicant Tracking online application.
    • The lower the number, the higher the position on the page. For example, a position heading description with a default order of 1 will be displayed above a position heading description with a default order of 4.
    • This order can be edited once a position description heading is attached to a position.
  • Enter a Default Description for the position description heading.
    • The default description will be displayed below the title. This field should be used to provide the details associated with the title of the position description heading. For example, the default description for a position description heading titled Educational Requirements might include the degrees and coursework you want your applicants to have completed.
    • The default description can be edited when the position description heading is attached to a position.
  • Click the Save icon when the position description heading is complete.
  • The position description heading can now be enabled on the SS Applicant Tracking Setup window (SS> Web Application Setup> Applicant Tracking> Position Description tab).
  • Once the position description heading has been enabled on the SS Applicant Tracking Setup window, it can be added to open positions on the Position Maintenance window (HR> Maintenance> Position> Description tab).
