Summary
The Type Maintenance window is used to create custom tabs for the Employee Maintenance window (HR> Maintenance> HR> Employee Maintenance). Custom tabs, such as Education, Experience or Awards, can be configured with user defined fields to record tab-specific information. The new tab will display the next time the Employee Maintenance window is opened for an employee.
Step by Step
1 View the existing types.
- Open the Type Selection window (HR> Maintenance> Type).
- The Type Selection window will display all the types created in the application.
- Highlight a type and press DELETE or click the Delete icon if you would like to delete a type.
- You cannot delete a type that is attached to an employee record.
- Highlight a type and press ENTER or click the Modify icon to modify or view the selected type.
- Press INSERT or click the Create icon to create a new type. This will open the Type Maintenance window.
2 Create or modify a type.
- Enter a Type. The type field is limited to 15 characters.
- Enter a type Description. The description field is limited to 60 characters.
- Check the Qualification toggle to make the type available as a screening condition during the Applicant Screening process. Any type with the Qualification toggle checked will appear as a tab in the Applicant Maintenance window (HR> Maintenance> Applicant).
3 Specify fields to associate with the type.
- Choose a field to add to the type from the Create icon drop-down menu.
- The Character field is used to enter text or number values. You will be limited to 50 alphanumeric characters. For example, character fields for an Education type could include Degree Completed and Major.
- The Date field provides a date drop-down menu. For example, date fields for an Education type could include Dates Attended From and To.
- The Decimal field is used to enter numeric values with decimal points.
- The Integer field is used to enter only numbers. An integer can be positive or negative but cannot include a decimal place.
- The Logical field is generally used to enter logical values. It will display on the tab as a checkable toggle.
- The Memo field is a large text field that is generally used to enter notes.
- The fields will display on the custom tab in the same order that they display here. Use the Up and Down icons to rearrange the fields as desired.
- If the Qualification toggle is checked, the user defined fields will display after the Code and the Rating fields when the tab is accessed in Applicant Maintenance.
- Click the Save icon when complete.
- Open the HR Employee Maintenance window (HR> Maintenance> HR Employee) to confirm that the new custom tab is configured correctly.
