BP Valuation Unit Type Maintenance

Updated on

Summary

Valuations are used to calculate the Project Cost of a permit. Valuations could include things like square footage for an addition, length of a new fence, number of plumbing fixtures in a new apartment building, etc.

Valuation unit types are added to applications and permits on the Permit Maintenance window (BP> Maintenance> Permit> open a permit> Valuation tab). The total number of units is then entered and the Permit Cost is increased by the number of units times the valuation unit cost.

Valuation unit types can be exported for editing and then imported back into the system though the Export and Import Valuation Unit Type windows (BP> Utilities> Export or Import Valuation Unit Type).

Step by Step

1     Open the Valuation Unit Type Selection window (BP> Maintenance> Valuation Unit Type).

  • The Valuation Unit Type Selection window will display all of the existing valuation unit types in the application.
  • Click the Delete icon to remove a highlighted valuation unit type.
    • You will not be able to delete a valuation unit type that is attached to an application or permit.
  • Highlight a valuation unit type and click the Modify icon to edit the selected valuation unit type.
  • Click the Create icon to create a new valuation unit type. This will open the Valuation Unit Type Maintenance window.

2     Create a new valuation unit type.

  • Enter a new Unit Type. This is the unique code that will identify the unit type. For example, if you are creating a valuation unit type to calculate fees based on square footage, the Unit Type could be SQFT.
    •  Once you save the new valuation unit type, the Unit Type field cannot be edited.
    •  This field can be up to 20 characters long.
  • Enter a unit type Measurement. This is the item or characteristic that the unit type is measuring. If we continue the example from above, the measurement would be Square Feet.
    • This field can be up to 20 characters long.
  • Click the Create icon to add a line item revision to the Unit Cost data grid below.
    • Select an Effective Date for the revision from the drop-down menu.
      • Each unit cost revision must have a unique effective date and will not take effect until the effective date.
    • Enter a Unit Cost for the line item. This is the amount that will be charged for each valuation unit on the permit. For example, if this valuation unit cost is $0.50, and the number of valuation units on a permit is 2,000, the total amount that this valuation unit will charge against the permit project cost is $1,000.
      • The specified unit cost must be greater than zero.
  • Click the Save icon to save the new valuation unit type.
