Summary
Queues are used in the Building Permits module to group the inspectors that can be assigned to inspection types. For example, electrical inspectors could be grouped together into a single queue called Electrical. That queue can then be specified as the default queue on an electrical inspection type. When that type is ready to be scheduled, the scheduling clerk can quickly choose from any of the inspectors included in the default queue.
Queues are not required, and any user set up on the Schedule User Setup window can be assigned to an inspection type.
Step by Step
1 Open the Queue Selection window (BP> Maintenance> Queue).
- The Queue Selection window will display all of the existing Queues in the application.
- Click the Delete icon to remove a highlighted queue.
- You cannot delete a queue that is associated with an inspection type.
- Highlight a queue and click the Modify icon to edit the selected queue.
- Click the Create icon to create a new queue. This will open the Queue Maintenance window.
2 Create a new queue.
- Enter a Queue name. This is the name that will be used to recognize the queue when selecting it.
- This field can be up to 32 characters long.
- Once you save the new queue, you will not be able to modify this field.
- Enter a queue Description.
- The description field can be up to 128 characters long.
- The Queue Members section is used to add Springbrook users to the queue. You must have at least one user attached to a queue.
- Only Springbrook users attached to a queue will be available in the Users field when that queue is used to schedule an inspection type.
- Click the Create icon to add a new user to the queue. This will open a list of users to select from. The user information will display in the window.
- To delete a user from the queue, highlight the user and click the Delete icon.
- Removing a user from a queue will not affect any applications or permits that the user or queue was associated with. If the removed user was previously scheduled to complete an inspection type, that user will still be scheduled.
- Click the Save icon when complete.
