SS Lot and Customer Import

Updated on

Summary

The Lot and Customer Import window is used to add new lots or customers or to update lot and customer details in the database through a user-configurable import file. A common use of this tool is to integrate GIS systems that require additional details be associated with each lot in the database. If a lot or customer included in the import file does not exist in the database, it will be created. If a lot or customer included in the import file does exist, the details in the database will be updated to match the details in the import file.

Step by Step

1     Open the Lot and Customer Import window (SS> Utilities> Lot and Customer Import).

2     Import the file.

  • The Format drop-down menu is used to select the import configuration you would like to use.
    • A lot or customer-specific import configuration can be created before importing. Import configurations are created and maintained on the Import Configuration Maintenance window (SS> Maintenance> Import Configuration).
    • The Standard Springbrook configuration will be selected by default.
    • Click VIEW FORMAT to view the expected format of the import file.
  • The Browse button is used to browse for the import file. You can also drag the import file and drop it in the area to the right of the button.
  •  The Lot Primary Key field is used to specify how the import file will identify individual lots. Each imported lot will need to have the primary key specified, whether it is Parcel, Tax Lot, or Lot Number.
    • Parcel and Tax Lot are often used as the primary key when updating lot details via importing data from a third-party system, such as a GIS system.
    • Lot Number is often used as the primary key when users export lot data via QBE, edit that data in a spreadsheet, and then import the edited data to create new lots or update existing lots.
  • The Customer Primary Key field is used to specify how the import file will identify individual customers. Each imported customer will need to have the primary key specified, whether it is Customer Name, Customer Name and Customer Address, Customer Name and Customer Misc, Customer Number, or Customer associated with Lot.
  • Click the Submit button to import the lot and customer data.
    • Any errors that occurred during the import process will be displayed in the Jobs Viewer.
